Amazon removes Indian flag doormat from website

Finally Amazon steps down Indian flag doormat from their website after the famous Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj’s warning to this company using twitter few days back.

News Highlights:

  • Sushma Swaraj felt some weird activity over Amazon.
  • She objected the concern to the company, regarding Indian-themed doormats.
  • She mentioned that Amazon should apologize with immediate effect, else they won’t issue visa to this company.
  • Finally after the warning those products were been removed from the website.

After this statement from Sushma Swaraj, Company was too worried and they have their reasons to get worried about it. Indian is the fastest growing ecommerce market nowadays. And at this peak time if such company will get a warning from government, so obviously it’s a huge minus.

So just after the statement an Amazon spokesman mentioned that items are not longer available for sale on that website.

Previously the external affairs minister tweeted as well, that Amazon must tender unconditional apology in order to place us products insulting our respected national flag. This shouldn’t be there.

As per another tweet, that was just more than a warning that we will not grant Visa of our country to any of the Amazon official.

That all happened when a twitter user from Canada sent her the snapshot of such doormats featuring the Indian flag on sale. After that immediately she took the action and got the results too.

As per Indian law, any violation of the national flag is a punishable offense with such amount of fine as well as imprisonment too.

Sushma Swaraj reported this to Indian High Commission in Canada as well to take the highest level action against Amazon. Further she mentioned that this is totally unacceptable.

Few hours later on, that particular product page was showing a error which was, “Page not found”.

That’s really good to see our ministers paying such heeds to such replies and taking actions.
